If you have been wondering which iPad 2 you should buy, how much storage is needed whether to buy a Wi-Fi only or to go for the 3G version when there’s no hotspot around? Here comes the simple, calculated solution to this complicated question.
Go and get the 16GB Wi-Fi-only model in black. As far as ‘why’ is concerned, let’s have a look at some supporting analysis to the answer:
-Stick with Wi-Fi only. Avoid the 3G models:
You should probably better to just get the Wi-Fi version of an iPad 2 unless there is a need to use your iPad a lot on the road or somewhere outside where there are no Wi-Fi hotspots. If you are living in a rural area then the 3G iPad 2 make some sense but even then you should check coverage maps for AT&T and Verizon to make sure they provide high-quality 3G coverage in your area.
However if you already have an iPhone then it makes little sense to purchase a 3G enabled iPad 2 when you can simply tether the iPad to your iPhone using the new Hotspot feature in iOS 4.3, or jailbreak your iPhone and run MyWi 4.0, instead of paying extra amount for the 3G unit just to use that data connection when all that money can be saved by tethering to your iPhone.
-Storage requirements:
Though 64GB model appeals much with all that juicy storage space but Apps don’t take that much span on your iPad. So before considering whether to get the 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB model you really need to consider what you’re going to be using it for. Music, movies, photos and other entertainment stuff occupy most of the storage of an iOS device. So if you travel a lot then you might need 64GB unit to fill it with entertaining stuff you need on your trips without having to re-sync new ones all the time. But if you iPad is mostly used around the house then Air Video is a good choice to stream videos from your iMac or Mac Book.
No Apple device can grasp everything you love to have, so 16GB storage space is just fine unless you are looking to do some heavy lifting on your iPad.
-Black or White
There is no difference in white or black model that people will probably notice as this one comes down to personal taste. But Black iPad is not easy to regret in 6 month’s time like you’ll regret getting white. White showed scratches, filth and nicks but sexy, stylish and classy Black iPad won’t.
